LIVE SETS

CARPET CONCERT is an idea and space, to create sounds, music and new unthought spaces beyond the Western knowledge and cosmology.

The event series founded by Seba Kayan, tries to combine the occidental and the oriental world in a new identity and hybridity. In her live sets Seba Kayan combines traditional instruments from the so called “Orient”, to transform the genres. Well aware of the polemics of the expression “Orient” or “Carpet Concert”, she does not use this expression affirmatively, but rather descriptively. As a provocative impulse to open discourses, to deconstruct projected identities in the musical process.

The immersive experience combines live electronics, traditional instruments (accordion, kaval, oud), and projected visuals. Audience members are invited to sit or move around the space to engage with the sound. The project has been featured at Sonic Territories, Salam Music, Kultur Sommer Wien, Wiener Festwochen, Austrian Cultural Forum New York, Civa Festival and many more.

HADRA RAVE

Hadra Rave is a new project emerging from the artistic encounter between Seba Kayan and Orwa Saleh. Both artists are already well established in Austria and abroad with their solo projects. The Vienna-based DJ, producer, and artist Seba Kayan combines hypnotic techno with oriental rhythms and archival sound research in her sets. Syrian oud player Orwa Saleh transforms the ancient tradition of Arabic music with improvisational power and contemporary influences.

The Hadra – a collective ritual of musical and dance ecstasy – is rooted in many Sufi traditions and familiar to both artists through their cultural background. With Hadra Rave, they take up this idea and merge electronic club music with traditional live instruments into a contemporary form of trance. Seba Kayan and Orwa Saleh combine electronic beats with the expressive power of the oud, creating a soundscape that resonates both in clubs and on concert stages. Their interplay unfolds a transcultural musical experience that transcends boundaries, reimagines tradition, and draws the audience into a collective flow.
